| The Institute is a legacy
of Dr. John Mack (1929-2004), Pulitzer Prize winning author and Professor
of Psychiatry at the Harvard School of Medicine. Throughout his distinguished
career, Dr. Mack was renowned for his pioneering clinical and metaphysical
work. The Institute continues in the spirit of his work through clinical
services, as well as education and research initiatives: seeking to
expand the science of human experience.
The John E. Mack Institute explores the way in which perceptions
and beliefs about reality shape the human condition. The Institute's
clinical, educational and research initiatives seek to understand
the role of consciousness in the healing process. The Institute
will pursue this by integrating emerging worldviews and cross-cultural
approaches in its work, and by creating a safe environment for healing
discoveries. The John E. Mack Institute has its origins in the Center
for Psychology and Social Change, whose projects utilized the insights
of psychiatry to address social and political realities.
In 2004-2005, Elevate provided full service fundraising strategy,
support and execution to raise funds for the Institute, approaching
donors, foundations and strategic partners across the US and internationally.
