| Founded by Peggy Pearson, internationally renowned oboe soloist, Winsor Music is a non-profit organization that aims to increase the appreciation and enjoyment of classical music. As an important part of its community music program, it has launched an innovative series of concerts in retirement communities in the Boston area, entitled The Winsor/Walnut Hill Outreach Project. What makes this series unique is the involvement of talented young musicians from Walnut Hill, a school for the arts in Natick, Massachusetts. These students, aged 13 to 18, have remarkable gifts, and perform at an extremely high level.
Specifically, Winsor Music Outreach aims to:
- encourage dialogue across the generation gap, enriching the lives of both old and young
- bring the therapeutic power of music to those in society who are often overlooked
- enable young performers to appreciate the importance of music-making in the community and to recognize the joy their
- extraordinary gifts can bring
Winsor Music, in partnership with Ben Zander, conductor for the Boston Philharmonic,
employed Elevate to organize their 2004 annual fundraising event.
